The human eye is an organising eye that is attracted to the geometric and will make something recognisable and give it order.

I am strongly attracted to Diagrammatic Geometric  Shapes. I relate my work to Cantor sets – fractal geometry. Knowing and allowing that some form of  order will grow and that it might be hidden by the scale.

The paintings and drawings are an interpretation of what my eye finds, there is no narrative. Changing media bring out different but personal sensibilities. There is no certainty and each piece can spark variations in the mind and the marks made. They start off unpredictably, allowing space to grow.  There is a balancing of the elements of mark making, colour and ground, so all play their part.  Scale is an ongoing element.

They are mark making with paint or charcoal and do not pretend to anything else.
